What we do

Activities and objectives of Guyana Cancer Foundation

1- We take steps to provide help and inspire hope in those affected by cancer through early detection, education, awareness, and free medical screening with a focus on the medically underserved (low-income and under-insured) population and to make a difference in their lives.

2- One of our objectives is reintegration activities to help connect cancer survivors back into society.

3- We are continously thinking and taking initiatives to enlarge the community’s support systems to make strides against cancer for fighters and survivors

One of our main activities is the free screening program where our low-income women get access to free screening (mammogram+ sonnogram) for early detection. Over the last five years we have partnered with Cancer Institute of Guyana to provide this valuable service at a reduced cost, sponsored by N& S Mattai & Co who has made a commitment to sponsor four women per month. So far, as from last Oct, 2015 to June, 2016, 61 women have been screened, from that list, and one came out positive. Our free screening program were also co-sponsored by Queens Atlantic Inc and King’s Jewelry World last October to kickoff the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
